'People are afraid' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal have become many people's top picks to win the Premier League during this term.

Examine their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace versus those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title target.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), goals allowed (3), attempts against (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and xGA (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the finest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but competing clubs still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is even more notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and analysts have labeled Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and resolve.
